Each week Mike Angelina will share his picks on the Eagles, a game against the spread in both NFL and NCAA, a Suicide Pool Pick, a 3-team tease, as well as a fantasy player to make sure you start. Follow Mike on Twitter @MikeAngelina
Eagles Pick: This is an easy one to pick against the spread once you know who you are taking. That’s the problem, though; this game could go either way as the 1-point line indicates. Seattle is the better overall team, as the line indicates, but not by a whole lot. Their offense is solid and sound but nothing to worry too much about, as long as they keep Russell Wilson contained. The defense is fantastic, the best in the league, and the Eagles need to figure out a way to beat them. I think Chip does, and they score just enough to beat them. The Eagles’ homefield advantage has become legitimate and a true advantage, as the 10-game winning streak indicates. They rock the house with their electrifying returns and I expect the “Linc” to be rocking once again. Seattle is vulnerable on the road, having already lost three times already. I think Chip figures out a way to outscore them with his offense and the defense will make a late stand.
Pick: Eagles ATS Pick: Eagles -1
NFL Against the Spread Pick: The Browns are making a terrible decision not going to the best quarterback on their roster, Johnny Manziel. Instead, they are apparently content riding the QB that has thrown five interceptions and zero touchdowns over the last two games. This is the part of the season where I see the inexperienced Browns folding as the playoff push really begin to take place. They have even started their tailspin, starting with Hoyer himself. Andrew Luck, the AFC Offensive Player of the Month andthe Colts are absolutely rolling, and I expect them to handle the Browns on Sunday.
Pick: Colts -3.5
NCAA Against the Spread Pick: I hate the card this week in college ball. Reliable favorites Alabama and Oregon are a bit too high in their lines for me to touch. At the same time, I won’t take either underdog. So, I’ll go with a small line for college football’s most reliable team, the Florida State Seminoles. Playing in a neutral field in a championship setting, I trust Jameis Winston to not force the ball and not make too many mistakes. I’ll take the Seminoles to move on towards the playoffs, undefeated.
Pick: Florida State -4
Suicide Pool Pick: Well, there’s not much left out there, as by Week 14 you’ve likely exhausted most of your elite, or even good teams. I had to qualify the pick before saying it, so with that in mind play the Minnesota Vikings. The Jets stink and have likely quit after their Monday Night loss. Minnesota is quietly playing good ball at home and I expect them to walk away victorious on Sunday afternoon.
Pick: Minnesota Vikings
Three Team Tease:
Start ‘em: This is a backfield that is usually crowded, but I think this week there is a clear solution on whom to pick. Mark Ingram is coming off a huge game against Pittsburgh, and with Khiry Robinson shaken up, he’s the clear number one. Carolina has a terrible run defense, and I expect the Saints to get up early and control the ball, thus racking up a lot of carries for Ingram, and likely a few goal line opportunities.
Selection: Mark Ingram
