Week 8 is upon us, and it honestly feels like we’ve already watched an entire season of football. Maybe it’s because the Eagles season has been so enjoyable, that we’ve been watching it in slow motion. After spending the last five years in a 4-sport exile, maybe we’ve learned to appreciate every week. Every moment. Every play. Every real win, and every win within a win. Philly has never been a city spoiled with sports success, but has any other 4-sport city EVER been so punished with such inferiority over a period of 5+ years? The great thing is — it’s seemingly over for at least 3 of the 4 Philly teams… but it’s clearly over for the Eagles. They’ve arrived, and they’re for real. Let’s hope they stay healthy enough to turn this magic start into a magic finish.

On to the VDB Office Pool: THE NFL Authority, Darren DeGaetano, has finally been overtaken in the standings. Voodoo’s solid 12-3 mark was good enough to slip 1 game ahead of Darren, who posted a decent 10-5 mark. Mike Procopio also made an aggressive move towards the top with a 12-3 mark, which brings him to just 2 games out of first. Defending Champ Mike Angelina (7-8) is currently the odd man out at 10 games out of first, but there’s still plenty of time to make a move. Of all the VDB contributors who have made picks over the last 7 years, I’ve seen Mike Angelina turn in more 1-loss weeks than anyone else — so I wouldn’t even think of counting him out.

HERE ARE THE STANDINGS AFTER WEEK 7:
Voodoo Brown: 67-39
Darren DeGaetano: 66-40
Mike Procopio: 65-41
Mike Angelina: 57-49

Follow a contributor and ride them all season … Good luck in Week 8!

Voodoo Brown
Voodoo Brown started playing fantasy football way back in 1994 — when you had to manually add up scores with the Monday edition of USA Today (yes, that’s how it was done). Since that time, he has amassed 11 titles and 6 runner-ups, with most of his success coming after 2003 (avg. participation of 2-3 leagues per year). These accomplishments are evidence that Voodoo steadily adjusts to the ebbs & flows of the ever-changing fantasy landscape. It’s a different game now than it was in 1994 — hell, even 2004. Rarely finishing as a doormat, Voodoo’s teams are always in the mix. If you want any roster or lineup feedback, you can message him at vb@voodoobrown.com, or hit him up on Facebook or Twitter (@VoodooBrown)
