Goff, Gurley, and the rest of the Rams look to keep the train rolling against the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday night (Photo by Robert Hanashiro — USA TODAY Sports)

mike-champCongratulations, Mike Procopio, on winning the VoodooBrown Office Pool for the third time in four years. I don’t know what they’re putting in the water up in Boston, but whatever it is, it cranks out championships. Mike posted a 174-82 record (68%), which is better than pretty much every pundit from ESPN/Fox/CBS that put their picks on record. Good job, Mike… your Davio’s gift card is on its way!

Playoff picks are listed below, followed by the final 2017 VDB standings.

WILDCARD ROUND:

Tennessee Titans @ Kansas City Chiefs (-8.5)

Over/Under: 44.5
Temperature: 29°
Wind: 7-12mph

If the Titans can get Derrick Henry going, this end up being a close game. If you’re a Chiefs fan, you don’t want a game going down to the final minutes with Andy Reid on the sideline. That being said, I still think the Titans going in to Arrowhead and stealing one is a monumental task. Titans cover, but Chiefs win without sweating too much.

Voodoo’s picks:
Against the spread: Tennessee +8.5
Straight up: Kansas City
Over/Under: Over 44.5

Mike Procopio’s picks:
Against the spread: Kansas City -8.5
Straight up: Kansas City
Over/Under: Over 44.5

Atlanta Falcons @ LA Rams (-6)

Over/Under: 48
Temperature: 65°
Wind: 0mph

This will likely be the most entertaining matchup of the weekend. All season long, the Falcons looked like a team playing through a vicious hangover — which they were — and who can blame them? They actually handed the Super Bowl trophy back to the Patriots last year, which was the biggest choke job I’ve ever seen in my life. The key pieces of that team has returned, with the exception of their offensive coordinator. Why has Atlanta regressed? Tough to say, but we all know the talent & playmakers are still there. They’re playing in ideal dome-like conditions in beautiful Los Angeles. Going up against the high-scoring Rams will be a challenge, but the Falcons do have the firepower to keep up with them. The Rams D has some shut-down potential, but it’s been leaky many times this year. If the Falcons want to have any chance of winning, they need to do two things: 1) contain Todd Gurley, and 2) get Julio going. If those two things happens, they could pull off the upset.

Voodoo’s picks:
Against the spread: Atlanta +6
Straight up: LA Rams
Over/Under: Over 48

Mike Procopio’s picks:
Against the spread: Atlanta +6
Straight up: Atlanta
Over/Under: Under 48

Buffalo Bills @ Jacksonville Jaguars (-8.5)

Over/Under: 39.5
Temperature: 51°
Wind: 12-17mph

It’s unclear whether or not LeSean McCoy will play in this game, and play effectively. Huge blow to the Bills, who snuck into this year’s playoff against the greatest of odds. It is great to see them back in the postseason, though, and hopefully the franchise can trend back towards being an annual contender. Jacksonville’s pass D has been the premier shut-down defense this season, and the only crack in their armor is their run D. Without McCoy, this game won’t be close. With McCoy, it could be competitive.

Voodoo’s picks:
Against the spread: Jax -8.5
Straight up: Jax
Over/Under: Under 39.5

Mike Procopio’s picks:
Against the spread: Buffalo +8.5
Straight up: Jax
Over/Under: Under 39.5

Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints (-7)

Over/Under: 48
Temperature: Dome
Wind: Dome

Although they’re coming in as the 4th seed, the Saints are looking like the most dangerous team in the NFC. Their running game wears down defenses, and sets up a deadly play-action for a first-ballot Hall of Famer in Drew Brees (who is still playing at an elite level). This all equals an absolute nightmare matchup for any defense. On the defensive side of the ball, the Saints have a lot of young playmakers, especially in the secondary. Both sides of the ball are a horrible matchup for the Panthers, especially since they don’t have a great running game to combat the Saints’ ball control. For this game to be close, the Panthers will need Cam Newton to play his absolute best ball. If he is in any way erratic, indecisive, or rattled, it will be a blowout. I don’t have any faith in Cam playing in the Superdome atmosphere, so you’re probably going to see chuck-n-duck Cam, pouting with a towel covering his face midway through the 3rd quarter. Saints win this one comfortably.

Voodoo’s picks:
Against the spread: New Orleans -7
Straight up: New Orleans
Over/Under: Under 48

Mike Procopio’s picks:
Against the spread: Carolina +7
Straight up: New Orleans
Over/Under: Under 48

Voodoo Brown
Voodoo Brown started playing fantasy football way back in 1994 — when you had to manually add up scores with the Monday edition of USA Today (yes, that’s how it was done). Since that time, he has amassed 16 championships and 7 runner-ups, with most of his success coming after 2003 (avg. participation of 2-3 leagues per year). These accomplishments are evidence that Voodoo steadily adjusts to the ebbs & flows of the ever-changing fantasy landscape. It’s a different game now than it was in 1994 — hell, even 2004. Rarely finishing as a doormat, Voodoo’s teams are always in the mix.
